A Keota woman was recently given a suspended sentence for forgery in Washington County while charges were dismissed in Henry County.
Court documents show that through a plea agreement, 41-year-old Jamie Lynn Wendt was convicted on two counts of forgery, a class D felony, and was given a suspended five-year sentence for each count to be served concurrently. Wendt was placed on three years of probation and $2,050 in fines were suspended. She is ordered to pay about $194 in pecuniary damages and Category B restitution. One forgery count and a fifth-degree theft charge were dismissed for the October 16, 2021 incident. Wendt found a wallet at the Dollar General in Washington and took the check book that belonged with it, and wrote checks at the Brighton and Wayland BP gas stations and Hy-Vee. Three forgery counts were dismissed for Wendt for Henry County incidents on November 4, 2021. A warrant was also served for Wendt this month for violation of probation on Washington County charges of child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana first offense, a serious misdemeanor.
