The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls track teams will wrap up the indoor track season tonight on the campus of the University of Dubuque with the River Valley Conference Indoor Championship meet.
The Mid-Prairie boys have been indoors one time this season, running at Iowa State University last week at the Iowa Association of Track Coaches indoor championships. Their night in Ames was highlighted by a 12th place finish in class 2A. At the meet, Cain Brown won the title in high jump, clearing 6’7″, to set a new Mid-Prairie record, breaking his dad’s previous mark. Brown was also sixth in the 60m dash. Thaddeus Shetler was third in the mile at the same event.
It’s been a big start to the indoor season for the Golden Hawk girls. They were third at the IATC Indoor Championships at Iowa State last week. They were led by Mitzi Evans double championships with wins in the 400 and 800. Sydney Yoder won the 3000 while the sprint medley team of Sophia Schwartz, Bronwyn Brenneman, Emma Lueck and Tabitha Evans were fifth.
Joining the Golden Hawks tonight in Dubuque are Iowa City Regina, West Branch, West Liberty, Tipton, Durant, Wilton, North Cedar, Anamosa, Monticello, Cascade, Northeast Goose Lake, Camanche and Bellevue. Action starts with field events at 4:30 and continues into the evening on the campus of the University of Dubuque.
