The new Keota aquatic center took a step closer to becoming reality at Monday’s city council meeting. Council Member Patrick Egan presented the 30% completion of design plans with new updated estimates. Some of the included features are a family restroom and separate pool and splash pad pumps, resulting in more efficient water usage, better pressure and warmer water for the splash pad. The splash pad will be farm themed. Council Member Keith Conrad spoke recently with KCII news about what the 30% design milestone signals for the project. “It’s going to go really quick after that. We’ll be heading into the April or May point of having a bid. It will start going really quick on the design end. The soonest we are probably going to start construction is sometime late summer early fall. They still have a completion date set to be right before Memorial Day (2023). A few weeks before normal season opening so we have time to do a soft start to make sure everything is running correctly.”

Tentatively, the city has plans to make a bid notice for the project public May 17th with bids due June 14th.
