Area fire departments responded to a shed fire north of Washington Thursday night.
Kalona Fire Chief Jerry Zahradnek tells KCII his department along with the Washington and Wellman fire departments were en route on the initial page for a shed fire at about 8:48 p.m. at 1865 Highway 1. The agencies knocked down a 14-by-20 foot shed which contained items such as chainsaws, gas cans, an air compressor, and dune buggy, with a propane tank nearby. Agencies were on scene for around an hour to contain the fire to the shed, which was a total loss. Cause is being ruled as undetermined and unintentional. Washington County Rescue, Ambulance Service, Sheriff’s Office, and Alliant Energy also responded to the scene.
