It was the final time two area basketball seniors suited up in their high school career on Saturday with Washington and Mid-Prairie being represented at the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association Pizza Ranch All Star Games in Grimes.
Mid-Prairie’s Maddie Nonnenmann was on the Southeast Iowa girls team that fell to the Northwest team 100-71 and then to Northeast by a 84-67 count. Nonnenmann was efficient in game one hitting all seven of her shots including 4-for-4 from long range to finish with a team-high 18 points. The senior never missed a field goal attempt on the day with her hot shooting continuing in the consolation game and she nailed three triples to tally nine points.
The Southeast Iowa boys were coached by Mid-Prairie’s Daren Lambert with Washington’s Kasen Bailey on the team. In a 107-88 loss to the Northwest boys, Bailey hit his only field goal attempt for two points and then had the same total in a 112-108 loss to the Northeast team in the consolation match.
A three point contest, luncheon, and awards ceremony was all apart of the day’s festivities.
