Water infrastructure grant funding is available for two unincorporated communities in Washington County.

Washington County Environmental Health Director Jason Taylor informed the County Board of Health at their March meeting that the Iowa Finance Authority has received $10 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds to repair or upgrade septic systems in unsewered communities. Taylor mentioned that nine properties in the community of Noble located in the southeast part of the county and five properties in Haskins located north of Ainsworth are eligible. For phase one of the grant program, properties constructed after July 1, 1983 are not eligible, and the grant awards may fund all costs directly related to the design, permitting, and construction of the private sewage disposal system. This can include the removal of existing structures, such as abandoned septic tanks, and earth moving related to proper wastewater treatment. Applicants must work with Taylor to determine eligibility, and you can find his contact information here.
