***Update: The railroad crossings reopened at about noon Wednesday.***

Motorists in Columbus Junction should be aware of a temporary blockage at two railroad crossings Wednesday.

Columbus Junction Police Chief Donnie Orr tells KCII that a mechanical issue with a train has forced the crossings to be closed at 2nd Street and Highway 70 on the northside of town. Crews are on the way to resolve the issue, and it is unknown at this time when the crossings will reopen. Motorists are asked to use an alternate route. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
