A Riverside woman was recently given a deferred judgment on a charge of child endangerment causing bodily injury, a class D felony.

Charges were filed in Johnson County for an October 2021 incident that occurred northwest of Riverside. Court documents show 43-year-old Jasmine Nicole Swantz was involved in a vehicle incident causing injury to herself and her son. Law enforcement observed alcohol containers in the vehicle and could smell ingested alcohol. A preliminary breath test showed her blood alcohol level was above .08%. This week Swantz pleaded guilty to the charges of child endangerment and operating while under the influence first offense, a serious misdemeanor, and she requested a deferral of judgment on the first count which the Court granted. She is placed on two years of probation with a suspended civil penalty of $1,025, while her sentence for the OWI is to pay a fine of $1,250 with a criminal services surcharge of 15%. Swantz is also sentenced to serve 48 hours in jail with credit given for any time previously served.
