Saxophonist Dillon Poole will represent the Mid-Prairie in the Iowa All-State Jazz Band . Poole, a junior, was one of 21 student-musicians selected to play in the class 1A/2A band from across the state. In order to qualify, he had to record his performance of around 50 measures of preselected music, played along with a recorded rhythm section and submit the finished product to a judge. He will receive the performance pieces for the show in a ceremony that recognizes all of the All-State selections which coincides with the Iowa Jazz Championships on April 5th. The Iowa All-State Jazz Band will perform a concert in Des Moines May 12th.
