For the first time of many in 2022, the Washington golf teams squared off with numerous Southeast Conference schools on Monday and both squads put together solid rounds.
The Demon girls welcomed the league to Washington Golf and Country Club with the orange and black winning with a 197 nine-hole tally. Makenna Conrad snatched runner-up medalist honors with a 43 and Kaylin Long was not far behind with a 46. Other scores included Alecia Goff 50, Maci Williams 58, Reagan Stouder 61, and Mallary Johnson 61. The Washington boys hit the course in Fairfield with the Demons placing second out of five with 171. Fairfield edged them by two with a 169 and the entire field was separated by just 25 strokes. Sophomore Roman Roth carded a 38 to place third and John Prochaska had a 42. Grant Sobaski managed a 45, Teague Mayer 46, Isaac Vetter 47, and Luke Beenblossom 49.
Both teams return to the course Thursday with the girls in Fairfield and the boys in Fort Madison.
