columbus-wildcats

It was a non-conference soccer doubleheader in Columbus Junction on Monday with the Wildcats welcoming Mount Pleasant and both schools managed a split.

The girls’ game saw the Wildcats score their first goal of the young campaign, but they couldn’t get over the hump in a 2-1 loss. The Panthers (2-0) scored once in both halves while the Wildcats tallied one in the second when Samarah Garza found the back of the net. The Wildcats drop to 0-3 on the season. The Columbus boys started up the campaign on a high note with a 6-0 victory in the nightcap with five goals coming in the first half. Javier Panchillo led the offense with a pair of goals. They are now 1-0.

Both squads are back at it tomorrow at Mid-Prairie.
