The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has issued another enforcement action against a Washington County business.

A consent order was issued last week for Reschly Metals, Inc. and Terry Reschly to cease improper handling and storage of appliances and comply with all applicable laws in the future, to cease and prevent open burning of combustible materials and comply with all applicable laws in the future, and to comply with all requirements of the facility’s stormwater pollution prevention plan. A consent order is issued as an alternative to issuing an administrative order, and indicates that the DNR has voluntarily entered into a legally enforceable agreement with the other party. A $1,500 administrative penalty was ordered with it. Earlier this month Reschly Metals was issued an administrative order to cease the illegal burning of solid waste, cease the collection and demanufacturing of discarded appliances unless and until an appliance demanufacturing permit is obtained, comply with the requirements of the facility’s stormwater pollution prevention plan, and pay a $5,950 administrative penalty.
