A local Future Farmers of America chapter is taking time this week to help those less fortunate. The Highland FFA Chapter, under the direction of Gina Trower is hosting Meals from the Heartland, Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 3p.m. Early Friday morning a truck from Des Moines will make a delivery to campus with items for all students at the middle and high school to use to pack meals for the hungry, which will be shipped to families and kids in Iowa, the United States and internationally. In addition to running the event the FFA members have asked students and staff to purchase a lime green Meals from the Heartland event t-shirt in a show of unity, which was sponsored in part by Syngenta Seed.
