Summer is coming up around the bend with preparations underway for the next Kalona Farmers Market season. Restarted in 2020, this event has become a staple of southeast Iowa. The market is officially set to start June 4th but the Kalona Chamber of Commerce is looking for vendors for the event. Chamber Director Tonia Poole shares what and who they are looking for, “what we are currently working on right now is looking for vendors, specifically produce vendors for the upcoming season. So if people have fruit or vegetables we would love to have you join us during the markets. We even have a promotional rate for people who are bringing primarily produce. The application is on our website. You can fill it out online or download it and submit it to us.”
The market gathers on the sidewalks of downtown Kalona every Saturday from June 4th through September 24th, 9 a.m. to noon, featuring produce, baked goods, local crafts, honey, meats, jams and live musical entertainment. The chamber is seeking sponsors to help fund musicians and marketing. To find out more or to register as a vendor visit Kalonachamber.com/farmersmarket.
