The Keota City Council continued to look at housing issues facing the area during their recent meeting. City Clerk Tomisha Hammes mentioned that she will travel to Ames to attend a Rural Housing Workshop on April 11th. The city created a Rural Housing Committee and partnered with Iowa State University Extension’s Community Economic Development department by hosting a survey on their website geared toward Keota residents and non-residents. People were asked for their opinions on the issues facing the community when it comes to housing, property conditions and what they would like to see in town. There were 183 people that responded and the two groups will compile the gathered information in the future.
