A non-conference challenge awaits the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls soccer team in Wellman when they host long time rival Solon Monday. Mid-Prairie is 2-1 this year after winning a pair of games last week over Monticello and Columbus by a combined 16-1 score. The Golden Hawks have scored 16 goals on the year and given up only two. They are led by Esther Hughes 10 goals, fourth most in class 1A. She also has a team best three assists. In goal, Ainsley Lueck has 13 saves on 15 shots for an 87% save percentage.

Solon is 3-1 this year with two wins themselves last week, taking down Marion and South Tama by a combined 13-0 score. On the year, the Lady Spartans have scored 25 goals and given up three. They are led by Morgan Link’s nine goals and two assists each from Link and Gabby Knipper. Alex Paisley has made four saves on seven total shots, working out to a 57% save percentage. Solon has never lost to Mid-Prairie, winning twice a season ago, 3-0 in the regular season opener and 2-0 in the playoffs. Action starts tonight at 5p.m. At the Wellman Rotary Fields.
