Last week, the Winfield-Mt. Union Jazz Band performed at the annual Iowa Jazz Championships on the campus of Iowa State University. The Wolves were invited to participate based on success they had during the 2021-22 contest season. The band, under the direction of Lindsey Pogmore, performed three selections: Deacon Jack’s Gospel Shack, Amy’s Tune and Aftershock. Senior trombonist Griffin Humphreys was named one of four class 1A outstanding soloists for his performance at the event.
