The Washington City Council accepted a major site plan for a local business during their recent meeting.
The council approved a resolution for a plan to build a lumber storage building at Engineered Building Design located on Highway 1 and 92 north of West Main Street. Mayor Jaron Rosien shared that he and other city officials recently heard about the project during a tour held for the Iowa Economic Development Authority Director, “I’ll point out that we enjoyed a tour of Engineered Building Design with Sally [Hart] and Deanna [McCusker] when Debi Durham visited and David spoke about this addition. It’s also gone through P&Z, there’s a site plan for drainage, that’s been a big focus of P&Z and it is recommended for approval.”
A memo from City Building and Zoning Official Jeff Duwa mentioned that the site plan was reviewed by Garden and Associates for storm water retention and flow prior to submission to the Planning and Zoning Commission. EBD is planning for a 78 foot by 128 foot structure located near their truss manufacturing facility in the southeast corner of their property. This will allow for easy access and dry storage of lumber for their construction projects that currently sit outside in the elements.
