Highland middle schooler Gretta Piette continues to wow the writing world. The eighth grader was recently named a National Medalist and Gold Key recipient. Her short story “Silent Dancers” was also named “Best in Class.” She will receive the award during a ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 9th. Piette will also be highlighted in Best Teen Art, Best Teen Writing and The Yearbook.
As a national award winner Piette is eligible to receive scholarship funds and participate in workshops during the early summer. She won the Regional Scholastic and Writing Gold Key Award for her short story earlier this spring.
