One area girls track team competed in the Rocket Relays at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Thursday with Washington placing third out of eight.
The Demons racked up 97 points on the evening, only been outdone by Fairfield’s 104 and North Polk’s 187. Quincy Griffis added another event championship to her resume by placing first in the 3000m clocking in at 12:14. Grace Voss took home silver in a pair of events including the 800m (2:41) and high jump (4’10’’). Ally Rees was second in the shot put (30’8.75’’), the 4x200m relay was second (2:01), and the 4x800m relay had the same finish (11:16). Third place showings included Abigail Kleese third in the 400m (1:06), Kendall Hinrichsen in the 800m (2:43), Quincy Griffis in the 1500m (5:35), Lia Fillinger in the 400m hurdles (1:19), and Rees in the discus (86’3’’).
