Area agencies responded to a structure fire for the second day in a row north of Coppock Friday morning.

The Washington County Communications Center states agencies were called at 3:55 a.m. to a hog building on fire near 3068 Larch Avenue in rural Washington. Washington Fire Chief Brendan DeLong tells KCII no pigs were inside the affected building, and crews worked swiftly to cut off a hallway that connected the building with another confinement that contained around 2,400 hogs. Property owners were present at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The one building was a total loss, and cause is ruled as undetermined. The Washington Fire Department left the scene at 8:15 a.m. Wayland, Brighton, and Crawfordsville fire departments, Washington County Ambulance Service and Sheriff’s Office, and Access Energy all assisted at the scene.
