The Mid-Prairie boys and girls soccer teams split their final two matches of the week. The top ranked in class 1A Mid-Prairie boys were not bothered by the long road trip to Keokuk Friday, crushing the Chiefs in a 10-0, mercy rule shortened match.

The Hawks scored in the 15th minute when Owen Trimpe finished off a Noah Ford assist. Mid-Prairie would find the back of the net three more times in the first half with Alex Bean tallying twice, once on a Trimpe assist, the other a Hugo Banuelos helper. Jack Pennington wrapped up the first half scoring with a strike on a Trimpe assist.

Up four after the break, Mid-Prairie got goals after half in the 43rd, 44th, 49th, 58th and 60th minutes with Pennington, Grady Gingerich, Braden Hartley, Gingerich a second time, and Pennington a second time, finishing his hat trick, before goalkeeper Justice Jones was moved to a field position, scoring the game winner to end things early at 10-0. The Hawks had 24 shots on goal. Jones turned in a clean sheet with three saves. Mid-Prairie is now 6-0. The top ranked Hawks are back in action Tuesday against Anamosa.

The Mid-Prairie girls were shut out on the road Thursday by the Grinnell Tigers 4-0. Grinnell was on top 3-0 at half and added an insurance goal after break. They outshot Mid-Prairie 25-11 for the game and 11-3 in shots on goal. Sydney Miller recorded a hat trick for Grinnell. Ainsley Lueck had a big night in goal for the Hawks with 13 saves. With the loss, the Hawks are .500 on the year at 3-3. They host Central Lee Monday.
