Demon dominance. For nearly an hour on Monday, that’s what the Keokuk Chiefs endured as the Washington boys soccer team blasted their Southeast Conference rivals by a 10-0 score in just 51 minutes of play. Washington was on the board in the fourth minute with not one, but two goals as Emre Akgul got the scoring started on an Erick Ortez Jr. assist. In the next 60 seconds, Ortez found the back of the net to double the Demon lead on an assist from Brayan Arreola. Seven minutes later, Bill De La Rosa scored the first of his trio on a penalty kick to make it 3-0 Demons. Arreola posted an unassisted tally in the 12th minute and then finished in the 24th minute on an Ortez helper to move the lead to 5-0 Washington. The Demons would score four more times before intermission with goals from Emanuel Raymundo, a third from Arreola to finish the hat trick, one from Kevin Marcelino and a second goal from De La Rosa on an Akgul assist to make it 9-0 Demons at the break. Washington finished the game in the 51st minute with De La Rosa’s third to complete his hat trick with Arreola on the assist.

The Demons had it all working. Six different Washington players scored a goal, three had an assist. With the win, Washington is now 5-1 overall and 3-1 in conference as they get set for Burlington Thursday at the Washington Wellness Park.
