Nature’s beauty and how to protect it will be celebrated during a couple events this week at the Washington Public Library.

The public can learn about Bonsai dwarf trees from local expert Cat Nelson during a presentation being held at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the library. As Earth Day occurs this Friday, the library is hosting “Cookies & Cleanup” Saturday. Library Director Cary Ann Siegfried invites residents to help pick up trash and sticks in the downtown area and enjoy a baked treat, “This is really again for the whole family and we’ll be meeting at the library at 9 a.m. and spreading out to help beautify the square that day.”

Participants are encouraged to bring gloves if they have them, and younger children must be accompanied by an adult. The library is also hosting their annual seed exchange in their front entrance for patrons to donate or pick up free edible and ornamental seed packets.
