The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys track team sent the fans home happy from Dwight G. Sattler Field in Wellman Tuesday, grabbing a share of the team championship at the Golden Hawk Boys Invite. Mid-Prairie finished tied with Mediapolis at 85 points. Mid-Prairie had four event champions on the night. Thaddeus Shetler won the mile in 4:41.62. He spoke with KCII Sports at the end of the night about the event. “Tonight I was just trying to run fast and keep Drake time as a potential. At the same time I just need to remember to run and enjoy competing for what it is. That’s the most important thing I can do.”
Jayden Stafford won the wheelchair 100 with a time of 19.21 seconds. Carter Harmsen took the discus title with a throw of 137’2″ and the Golden Hawk shuttle hurdle team of Justice Jones, Kaden Meader, Braden Hartley and Cain Brown were winners in 1:04.89.
The Washington Demons were eighth with 34 team points. Washington had Brayden Hartman win gold in the shot put with his throw of 47’8.5″. Other top performers for the Demons included Jacob Miller runner-up in the 100, third for Hartman in the discus and third for the Demon 4×800 team.
