The Columbus Winfield-Mt. Union girls and boys soccer teams welcomed the Wapello Arrows and Indians to town on Thursday and broke out the brooms on their Southeast Iowa Superconference opponents, sweeping the two matches. The Wildcat girls grabbed their first win on the year, 2-0. Juvixsa Valdez handled the scoring for the ‘Cats. The Columbus senior had a goal on each side of halftime. Lecet Quiroz had an assist. Alynna Leos had the clean sheet for the Columbus defense. The Wildcats are now 1-7 on the year, Wapello is now 1-2.
The Wildcat boys crushed the Indians 10-3. Columbus had an amazing 29 shots on goal in their victory. Columbus led 7-0 in at the half. The Wildcats are now 5-2 on the year, Wapello is 1-5.
