Regular season meet victories have piled up for the Washington boys’ golf program and it all culminated on Monday when a Fort Madison meet win meant a conference title for the orange and black.
The Demons competed at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course and downed their Southeast Conference foes once again by tallying a nine-hole score of 173. That was just enough to edge out Mount Pleasant’s 176 and Fairfield’s 178. Roman Roth had a third place score of 40 and Isaac Vetter was right behind with 41. Other counting scores on the chilly evening included Luke Beenblossom 45 and Grant Sobaski 47. The win was enough to claim the regular season SEC crown with a total of 856 strokes in five meets and Fairfield came in second with 878. Furthermore, three Demons were named all conference by cracking the top 10 with Roth being third, Vetter fifth, and Sobaski sixth.
Washington is a week out from the actual conference tournament, but they dip out of the league today and travel to Oskaloosa for an 18-hole competition.
