It was a chilly night to run on Monday for the Lone Tree track teams when they competed in the Belle Plaine Coed meet and both squads finished top five in the standings.
The Lion girls nabbed second out of 10 with 77 points while North Tama took home the championship with 108. Rylee Shield took the top spot in the 400m dash clocking in at 1:04.59 and the freshman was also the anchor of the victorious sprint medley (2:05) with the rest of the team being Arlie Lorack, Lexi Norris, and Vivian Zaruba. Shield was second in the 200m (29.97), Zaruba was runner-up in the 1500m (6:16), and Cate Sexton was fourth in the long jump (14’4.5’’). The Lone Tree boys placed fifth out of eight with 47 points and Belle Plaine defended their home track winning with 127. The 4x400m relay placed second (2:56), shuttle hurdle relay second (1:09), Cade Shield third in the 400m (56.71), and Cade Patterson third in the 400m hurdles (1:06).
The Lions are back at it Thursday in Wayland.
