The 2021-2022 school year is not over yet but the Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center is getting ready for the fall with an event next week.
High school students enrolled in next year’s career academy program are required to attend an orientation being held Wednesday, May 4th at 6 p.m. in the Washington High School auditorium. Center Director Tera Pickens says returning career academy students are also required to attend to learn of any program changes and meet their instructors, “With the orientation event we invite students and parents to come to learn more about student expectations, what the experience is going to look like, attendance policies, student conduct, the coursework, the calendar that we follow and so forth. Just to make sure that everyone is completely informed and aware of the program, the process and make sure that it is going to be a good fit for them.”
Pickens adds that some breakout sessions will follow at the regional center. The preferred deadline to register for free college credit in high school courses has passed, but Pickens says students can still contact the regional center to register. You can find more information here.
