Another golf season and another Southeast Conference title to hang in the rafters for the Washington girls’ golf team, as they clinched the regular season crown on Monday with a win at Flint Hills in Burlington.
The Demons once again swept through the league foes with a nine-hole tally of 180. Makenna Conrad and Kaylin Long tied for third with a 43, Alecia Goff and Mallary Johnson had matching 47s, Maci Williams shot a 51, and Haley Mitchell had a 63. The Demons won all five conference meets this spring and join the boys as regular season champs. Furthermore, four players were named all conference with Conrad and Long being first team while Goff and Johnson were on the second team. Head Coach Erin Thorius tells KCII Sports this is the first goal of many on the spring. “This was one of our goals in the regular season. Our team has great leadership, great work ethic, and they just continue to show up and work hard despite many days where the weather has been tough. This is definitely a check mark on the list of things to accomplish this season and I am proud of them.”
The squad gets back on the course Friday in Mount Pleasant for an 18-hole tournament.
