color-run

Saturday will be busy and bright at Mid-Prairie Middle School in Kalona as the Golden Hawk Student Boosters host their annual color run fundraiser. Mid-Prairie Student Booster President Gabby Frederick shares with KCII that registration for the event opens at 9a.m. Participation is free for families that fundraised prior to the event, while others can give a freewill donation to participate. The event begins at 10a.m. with 1K and 5K route options starting and ending at the softball complex east of the school. There are four color throwing stations at the event. Other activities include bouncy houses, face painting, photo booth, bags tournament, a DJ, raffle, concessions and a health and wellness fair sponsored by Washington County Public Health. This week, Frederick spoke with KCII news about how the proceeds have been used in the past and what she is most looking forward to at their sole fundraiser of this school year, “Make sure and come early. The route is going to be around the middle school. Other activities include face painters, and we are really excited to have Mid-Prairie senior Ella Wade, she is an amazing artist. I’m really excited too, we have Washington County Public Health folks and they are going to put on a health and wellness fair. As a mom of two kids, my husband and I do as best we can. Without the support of friends and family, we just couldn’t do it. I think as a small community, it’s wonderful to have the support of families, school, businesses, the love and support you get from folks. Not everything is about money.”
