An Iowa City woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated and several violations early Wednesday morning.

The criminal complaint states at about 12:54 a.m. a Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling the area of 3184 Highway 22 in Riverside when he observed a white Pontiac driving erratically without a front license plate while exiting the parking lot toward Highway 22. The deputy then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for failure to obey a traffic control device, and observed a strong marijuana odor coming from the vehicle. After advising the driver to pull up onto the shoulder as she had stopped in the turning lane near the Walnut Tower Apartments, the deputy advised that he had probable cause to search the vehicle, upon which nothing was located.

The deputy then observed an alcoholic odor coming from either the driver or passenger. The driver, 39-year-old Jessica Jeanine Walker then performed field sobriety testing which she failed, and a breath test registered a .142% breath alcohol concentration. Walker was then placed under arrest and was charged with operating while intoxicated third or subsequent offense, a class D felony, driving under suspension, failure to display a license plate, and failure to obey a traffic control device. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
