A Mount Pleasant woman recently pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary, a class D felony, for a Washington County incident.
Court records show through a plea agreement, 29-year-old Desiree Lynn Bishop was given a five year suspended prison sentence to serve five years of probation. Her sentence shall run concurrently with a North Lee County case in which she pleaded guilty to 10 burglary counts, and shall receive credit for all time served in connection with that case. She must pay $1,500 in victim restitution. Category B restitution was waived. Bishop was charged after a victim reported on February 25, 2021 that her storage unit had been broken into at 1056 West Madison Street in Washington. Among the items missing from the unit was an electric guitar which was located at Bishop’s residence during the execution of a search warrant by the Fort Madison Police Department. She was identified as a suspect in multiple storage unit burglaries in Fort Madison around that time, and also rented a storage unit at the same address as the victim.
