Some things are worth the wait. After a pair of lightning delays Friday, the No. 1 ranked Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys soccer team claimed a 5-3 Senior Night win over the Cascade Cougars in Wellman. Gunnar Gingerich got the scoring started in the 22nd minute on an Owen Trimpe assist. Mid-Prairie doubled their lead in the 37th minute when Tucker Miller cashed in a penalty kick to make it 2-0 and that’s where the score stood at half. Mid-Prairie would get three goals in a three minute period, a pair from Jack Pennington on assists from Noah Ford and Gunnar Gingerch and one from Hugo Banuelos on a Pennington assist.

Mid-Prairie had 16 shots on goal, seven corner kicks and Justice Jones had three saves in goal in the win. The Golden Hawks are now 9-0 on the year and will be in action at top 10 Iowa City Regina Tuesday. For senior night Mid-Prairie honored Justice Jones, Jack Pennnington, Diego Ayala, Sam Harris, Gunnar Gingerich, Jarrett Hoffman and Riley Yoder.
