A Washington man who was wanted by local authorities for over a year was sentenced Friday.

Washington County Attorney John Gish announces 44-year-old John Walling, Jr. was sentenced to serve up to 15 years in prison. On August 2, 2019, Walling was granted probation for possession of a controlled substance third or subsequent offense, a class D felony, as a habitual offender. He then violated his probation by failing to report to his probation officer. An arrest warrant was issued on January 21, 2021, and he was finally located and arrested on April 1, 2022. His sentence carries a minimum of three years.
