The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls golf team is in Peota Wednesday for the River Valley Conference Championship meet. The Hawks were last on the course Monday in a triangular with West Liberty and West Branch, finishing second on the Comets home course with their team score of 209, led by Madelyn Bender’s season best 49. On the year, the Golden Hawks are averaging 413 in 18-hole rounds, which they shot in April’s annual Golden Hawk Invitational at the Kalona Golf Course. Individually at that tournament, Mid-Prairie was led by Gabi Robertson’s 101, followed closely by Addison English at 102 and Madi Davidson 103. The Golden Hawks placed seventh at this event in Muscatine last season.
Other schools competing with Mid-Prairie include Anamosa, and their 197 average per nine holes led by Cecilia Venenga at 50, Bellevue with their 230 average per nine holes led by Adrian Humphrey at 54, Camanche and their 244 nine hole average and leader Karley Erps at 54, Cascade with a 238 team nine average and Anna Manternach at 58, Durant with a 449, 18-hole average led by Karissa Hoon at 111, Monticello and their 456 18-hole average with top player Jaelyn Aitchison at 110, North Cedar at 243 per nine holes led by Maya Benhart’s 57, Northeast Goose Lake with a team average 232 per nine holes and leader Elly Cain at 57, Iowa City Regina enters with a 483 average per 18-holes, led by a 113 average from Josie Voss, Tipton enters with a 505 average per 18-holes led by Kaitlyn Curry at 108, West Branch has a 405 18-hole average with a top card average of Claire Jarrett at 96, West Liberty has a 513 18 hole average with leader Aly Harned at 111 and Wilton owns a 436 18-hole average with leader Ava Barrett at 111.
