The lone home track meet of the year for Highland was on Monday with several area teams making the trek to Riverside including one that took a victory lap.

The Mid-Prairie boys headlined the day winning the eight-team meet with 127 points to best second place Tipton by 17. Jayden Stafford competed in three events and won the 100m wheelchair in 14.25 seconds, 200m WC in 38.13 seconds, and 400m WC in 1:18. Cain Brown had the best long jump on the night leaping 20’11.75’’, the 4x800m relay won (8:52) with this team consisting of Jayse Yoder, Blake Creed, Robert Nagy, and Chandler Hershberger, and the shuttle hurdle also reigned supreme in 1:04.67 with this squad being Justice Jones, Kaden Meader, Braden Hartley, and Brown. WACO placed fourth in the team standings with 64 points, Highland was fifth with 51, and Lone Tree seventh with 45. The Warriors had a pair of event champions with Simeon Reichenbach in the 110m hurdles (15.66) and Mason Miller in the high jump (5’10’’). The short relays were dominated by the home Huskies with the same team of Brenton Bonebrake, Logan Bonebrake, Tyler Thompson, and Connor Grinstead winning the 4x100m (45.99) and 4x200m (1:35.12). The top Lone Tree finishes included 4x200m relay (1:40) in third, shuttle hurdle relay (1:07.61) third, and Ethan Willoz third in 110m hurdles (17.75).

On the girls’ side, Mid-Prairie had select individuals compete and they placed third with 87 points. Tipton won it all with 151. Four events claimed first including Phoebe Shetler in the 1500m (5:24), Abby Fleming in the 3000m (10:53), Maddie Nonnenmann in the discus (104’7’’), and the distance medley (4:38) of Dakota Mitchell, Maya Nonnenmann, Annika Poll, and Fleming. WACO was fourth in the standings with 72 points, Highland fifth with 67, and Lone Tree sixth with 56. Runner-up WACO events included the shuttle hurdle relay (1:14.50), the 4x100m relay (53.93), Zoey Dennler in the 400m hurdles (1:14.97), and Ellah Kissell in the high jump (4’8’’). Sarah Burton headlined the Huskies winning four events including the 100m (13.48), long jump (17’7’’), and being apart of the victorious 4x100m (53.06) and 4x200m (1:53.47). Other relay participants for both races included Grace Prybil, Katelyn Waters, and Mackenzie McFarland. The Lone Tree sprint medley placed first (1:59.72) consisting of Lexi Norris, Avery Morarie, Vivian Zaruba, and Rylee Shield.
