A 20-year-old Mount Pleasant man was sentenced to probation this month for charges stemming from multiple November 2021 incidents. Levi Allen Whaley was sentenced to five years of probation on charges of second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a class C felony. The intimidation charge initially brought a 10-year prison term and the mischief charge a five-year prison term. Charges of first-degree robbery and ongoing criminal conduct or unlawful activity, both class B felonies, were dismissed without prejudice, meaning that they can be retried in the future.
These charges stem from incidents in November of 2021. Between November 1st and 19th it is alleged that Whaley and other defendants committed several robberies in Mount Pleasant that included taking money, drugs, clothes and phones while using guns and brass knuckles for intimidation purposes. Executed search warrants showed some of these items were found at places where the defendants had been and that incriminating messages, pictures and videos were found on mobile devices owned by the defendants. On November 3rd, Whaley allegedly took two juveniles to an abandoned home in rural Henry County to confront them about these burglaries while brandishing a handgun for intimidation. Authorities have obtained a copy of a video of the incident. On November 16th, Whaley and other defendants allegedly committed a robbery of a man at the Mount Pleasant Archery Range. It is alleged that Whaley threatened him with a gun before ordering him to remove his pants and shoes and the group took money and drugs from the victim. Some of the defendants involved in the incident were found to have videos recorded on their mobile devices.
