Rascal is available for adoption from PAWS & More.
As the last day of school nears, PAWS & More Animal Shelter in Washington is working on a new project to help educate kids on something that’s not typically required curriculum.
The shelter is seeking to honor a dog found deceased this spring in Washington due to mistreatment by providing “Kind News” magazine subscriptions to classrooms and youth organizations in Washington County. A $30 donation would provide 30 copies of the magazine to a classroom five times per year, which feature age-appropriate, positive, and fun lessons about animals that they can take home and share with their family.
Shelter Director Amber Talbot says they continue to advocate for strict animal protection legislation so that they don’t have to see future animal abuse cases like Honey’s, but they also want to invest in future pet owners, “This isn’t going to be something that directly benefits PAWS & More at all. This is just a goal that we wanted to make something positive come out of the tragic loss of Honey, and the pretty tragic neglect situation that we just faced locally. And so we felt that this is the best way to honor Honey who didn’t make it, and so this is all about outreach and connecting with our youth and building a kinder, younger generation
PAWS & More has already received several classroom sponsorships, and you can make a tax-deductible donation through their website while indicating that the donation is for Kind News.
