While work continues on a concrete overlay project on West 5th Street and Lexington Boulevard in Washington, the Washington County Engineer’s Office notifies a portion of the work area is now accessible by motorists.
Beginning Saturday, May 7th, traffic will have access to the Washington County Recycling Center from the west on Lexington Boulevard. County Engineer Jacob Thorius says because this is still a work zone drivers must continue to use caution and be aware of equipment and workers in the roadway. He also notes paving will continue on 5th Street around 7 a.m. Monday. Jones Contracting Corp. is planning to pick up where the paving ends and move west, stopping at Pioneer Seed. Those who have a business or residence in this area are asked to have a plan to move their vehicles prior to the start of paving. The project’s scheduled start was April 25th, starting on 5th Street at D Avenue and moving west to the end of the pavement on Lexington. Weather permitting, work should be completed by June 17th.
