It’s an all KCII battle on the pitch Monday when the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks entertain the Sigourney-Keota Cobras at the Wellman Rotary Soccer Fields. The Golden Hawks come into the contest 9-1 on the year. The previously unbeaten and top ranked Golden Hawks suffered their first defeat of the season Tuesday at the hands of No. 12 Iowa City Regina on the road 4-1, with Tucker Miller supplying the only Golden Hawk goal in the contest. For the year, Mid-Prairie is outscoring their opponents 53-8, including seven defensive shut outs. The offense is led by Jack Pennington’s 10 goals. Owen Trimpe has accounted for 10 assists, ninth most in Class 1A. In goal, Justice Jones has made 36 saves and allowed eight goals.
Sigourney-Keota is 1-8 on the year. They were beaten 7-0 by Chariton on Thursday. For the year, the Cobras have been outscored 57-16 and have been shut out twice. Individually, they are led by Ty Shafranek’s 10 goals, Jack Clarahan has three assists and in goal, Brock Alderson has worked 710 minutes, allowing 47 goals, and saving 104 shots for a 69% save percentage. This is the first varsity season for SK and the first ever meeting between the two schools. Action starts tonight at 5p.m. in Wellman.
