The South Iowa Cedar League golf meets start today with Sigourney and Keota competing in Oskaloosa.
The Eagle boys are one of the front runners to take the league crown with a 168 nine hole average that ranks second only behind Montezuma’s 163. Sawyer Stout has a 40 average that is third in the conference. Keota is currently riding a four meet win streak including beating four teams at their own invite last week. The Savage boys are sixth in the league coming in with a 196 average led by Clay Morse’s 45. The Sigourney girls could make some noise tomorrow, as they have the top average of 200 with Maddie Hornback ranked second in the league with a 44.
Eagle Head Coach Rod Hill tells KCII Sports about the course. “The front nine is pretty flat with big trees and is an old styled course that isn’t too bad, but the back nine can get you. You can see some nine and 10 shot holes from your better golfers just because the course has a layout that is tough. They are going to move up a couple tee boxes, but it will definitely be a challenging back nine.”
Today’s boys meet commences at 9 a.m. and the girls competition is tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Oskaloosa Golf Course.
