Agencies responded to a house with flames visible in Washington Saturday evening.

Washington Fire Chief Brendan DeLong tells KCII they were called at 5:09 p.m. to 904 North Iowa Avenue. Residents evacuated the home after a smoke detector alerted them to a fire that originated in a second-story bedroom. Crews contained the fire to the bedroom, and the cause is believed to be electrical. The second floor saw significant smoke damage while the first floor received minimal damage. Agencies were on scene for around an hour, and no injuries were reported. Ainsworth and Kalona fire departments, Washington EMS, Washington County Rescue, Washington County Ambulance Service and Sheriff’s Office, and Washington Police Department all assisted at the scene.
