The spring sports season has reached a crescendo and the Hillcrest Academy Ravens and Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks have at least in part learned their postseason fates from the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

For the Ravens, they will be on the track at their state qualifier meet Thursday at 4p.m. sharp at Sigourney high school with a bevy of KCII area schools. The Ravens will join Keota, Sigourney, WACO and Winfield-Mt. Union, along with BGM, Danville, English Valleys, HLV, Montezuma, New London, Pekin, Tri-County and Wapello in their quest to earn a spot at Drake Stadium in Des Moines for the State meet. The Hillcrest golf team will open up tournament play at sectionals tomorrow at Knoll Ridge Golf Course in North English against many familiar foes including area schools Highland and Lone Tree along with HLV, Iowa Valley, Tri-County and the homestanding Bears. Boys postseason soccer groupings have been released for Class 1A and the Ravens are grouped together with area schools Mid-Prairie and Sigourney along with Grundy Center, Prairie City Monroe, Pella Christian, West Liberty and Williamsburg. The first playoff games are scheduled for Thursday, May 19th.

The Ravens are part of the Mid-Prairie girls soccer program via a sharing agreement and the Golden Hawk girls open the tournament trail May 16th. The Golden Hawk golf teams will hit the course this week with the Mid-Prairie girls hosting Friday’s Class 2A regional opener at Kalona where they will see Central Lee, Louisa-Muscatine, Mediapolis, Tipton, Van Buren, West Liberty and Wilton. The Golden Hawk boys are at the Tipton Country Club for sectionals tomorrow where they are set to face Durant, Louisa-Muscatine, Mediapolis, Iowa City Regina, West Branch, Wilton and the home Tigers. The Golden Hawk track teams both travel to Eddyville for their state qualifiers Thursday with the River Valley Champion girls and RVC runner-up boys slated to square off with Albia, Cardinal, Centerville, Central Decatur, Central Lee, Chariton, Davis County, Louisa-Muscatine, Mediapolis, Van Buren and the home Rockets.
