The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls golf team starts the postseason Friday when they host a Class 2A regional opener at the Kalona Golf Course. The Hawks are fresh off of a runner-up team finish at last week’s River Valley Conference championship meet in Peosta where they shot a team score of 420 over 18 holes, and Madi Davidson, Gabi Robertson, Addison English, Alexa Huber and Madelyn Bender all were named to various all-conference teams with Davdison’s round of 101 placing third individually in the RVC. For the year, Mid-Prairie is shooting an average of 431 for 18-hole meets, led by Bender’s 111 average. That team number is better than the other six in the regional with Wilton’s 445 second and the Beaver’s Joann Martin the top individual at 104. Wilton is followed by L-M at 456 with top individual Madison Bieri at a 105 average, Tipton at 491 with Kaitlyn Curry holding a 107 average, Van Buren 537 and the Warriors Zoe Best with a 130, West Liberty 539 with Ally Harned at 110 and Central Lee 635 with Ellie Herdich’s 126 the top score.
The winning team, team runner-up, top eight players and ties will all advance on to Wednesday’s 2A regional final at West Liberty. Action starts today at 10a.m. and continues all day at the Kalona Golf Course.
