Former Riverside City Council Member and Mayor Bill Poch has thrown his hat into the upcoming Republican June 7 Primary Election for Washington County Board of Supervisors District 3, running against incumbent Marcus Fedler.
Poch tells us why he is running for County Supervisor, “The reason why I’m running for County Supervisor is that I am going to be leaving my university job here later this fall and as far as I’m concerned, if you’re going to be a supervisor you need to dedicate a certain good amount of time and I think sometimes if you have a life long position or job, that prevents you a little bit from really giving a full commitment to the supervisors job. So this fall I’m planning on leaving that position and hopefully, by the grace of God, if I’m elected in the Primary and then on the November ballot, I will be able to serve as the Washington County Supervisor and be able to dedicate a good amount of time full time to that position.”
Poch shares his objectives if elected,”My main objective if elected, is to have two ears and one mouth. The Lord has given us two ears and one mouth for a reason and I don’t think that’s utilized enough. I’m going to try to be a listener to the people who elect me and the people who maybe don’t elect me, I’m going to listen to them just as well. I think the current board of supervisors is doing a reasonable job but there’s always room for people with new ideas and blood in there. So, I will be representing District 3 which is Ainsworth, Crawfordsville and Riverside. Because of my experience as mayor, I think I will be able to represent those folks extremely well.”
