The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys soccer team closed the regular season Tuesday with a 1-0 road loss at Memorial Field to No. 13 in Class 1A West Liberty. The possible playoff preview was as good as advertised on paper with the two teams playing to a scoreless stalemate in the first half. The Comets recorded the lone tally on the night with Diego Sanchez beating the Mid-Prairie defense with an assist coming from all-stater Jahsiah Galvan. The outcome leaves both teams at 10-3 on the year as they enter the postseason Thursday. Mid-Prairie will host Hillcrest Academy in a rivalry match in Wellman while West Liberty will meet Prairie City Monroe in Muscatine.
