It’ll be a busy day on the pitch for area boys’ soccer teams when they start up their postseason journey. 

In class 2A substate 6, Washington will make a trip to Fort Madison to face Keokuk for the third time. The Demons come into the day 11-4 with the Chiefs sitting at 2-12 and Washington swept both regular season meetings by matching 10-0 scores. Game time is set for 5 p.m.

In addition to Mid-Prairie vs Hillcrest Academy, three other class 1A area teams will compete headlined by Columbus Community facing Centerville at Burlington Notre Dame. This game in substate 5 will kickoff at 5 p.m. with the Wildcats coming in 10-5 and they will try to down a Big Red squad that is 2-10. 

Highland will have a tall task in substate 4 with a quarterfinal at top seeded Davenport Assumption. The Huskies sit at 1-11 and the Knights are 10-5. Both squads will hit the field at 6:30 p.m. Sigourney-Keota will have the same challenge in substate 6 facing Gladbrook-Reinbeck at 6:30 p.m. The Rebels are 13-1 and the Cobras finished their first varsity regular season 1-11. 

Three wins separate each team from the state tournament that will be played June 1st-4th in Des Moines.
