The golf season came to a close for the Highland and Winfield-Mt. Union girls’ golf teams on Wednesday when they competed in a class 1A regional final at Heritage Oaks in Wapello.
The Huskies placed sixth out of seven teams with an 18-hole score of 447 and the Wolves were seventh with a 450. New London and West Branch advanced to next week’s state tournament with scores of 351 and 402. Highland’s Adeline Krotz had the best area finish placing 16th out of 46 with a score of 103. Kelsi Cerny shot a 106, Jenna Waters 113, Danika Kraus 125, and Kerra Longbine 127. The Wolves had rounds come from Isabel Kann with 107, Ava Hagge 112, Alli Humphreys 112, Lily Freeman 119, and Afton Wilkerson 120.
Highland and WMU could be back next year with both schools returning their entire top five.
