A pair of KCII area programs got the chance to shoot on the biggest stage in the country in May at the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Championships at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. For the Washington Demons in the high school bullseye shoot, Jonathan Moore fired a 279 with 11 tens to place 420th of more than 2,100 competing.

For the middle school Demons, Lily Brown led the way with her 278, including ten 10s to finish 150th out of more than 2,000 archers. Top Demon boy was Blake Sheetz with a 274 that included 15 tens for 254th out of more than 2,300. Other Demon middle school shooter’s scores included Ryen Pepper 277, Johannah Halvorson and Teague Pepper 273, Hannah Lipski 272, Gabrielle Andrew 271, Ethan Hotchkiss 269, Charlee Read 266, Mark Chenoweth 261, Braydon Clough 256, Emma Helfrich 255, Nicholas Charlier 254, Hailey Curtis 253, Layne Moore 248, Carsten Wilson 243, Sophie Wittmayer 241, Isaiah Halvorson 240, Brooke Feliciano 236, Tate Sheetz 232, Chance Haskins 229, Jaedyn Moore 228 and Hannah Klinzman 211.

In the 3D shoot for the Washington Middle School competitors, Braydon Clough shot 269 wth six tens to finish 148th out of more than 1,000 on the boys side. Top girls score came from Emma Helfrich with a 263 that included 13 tens to finish 183rd out of nearly 1,000 girls. Other Demon scores included Ethan Hotchkiss 266, Mark Chenoweth 265, Teague Pepper 262, Hannah Lipski 258, Gabrielle Andrew 256, Ryen Pepper 249, Nicholas Charlier and Blake Sheetz 241, and Isaiah Halvorson 240.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks also sent archers to the 3D national tournament. At the high school level the top boys score went to Zane Fisher with a 283 that included 18 tens to finish 28th of nearly 1,000 competitors. Josee Mueller had the top girls score with a 265 with nine tens to take 290th of nearly 900 high school girls competing. Other Golden Hawk rounds included Zoe Fisher 262, Caiden Sellers 254, Paytin Swartzentruber 253, Milo Sieren 243, Peyton Peck 237 and Hunter Robertson 172. For the Golden Hawk middle school crew Elijah Statler led the way with a 283 including 18 tens to finish 27th of more than 1,000 shooting and Preston Ford fired a 264.
